Whew. It's been a long time since I've done a kikay post. All I've been doing lately is eat and eat and eat and eat...as if that isn't obvious from my past four entries. So I'm going to postpone my Café Astoria and Max's Corner Bakery reviews and segue into the kikay zone for now.
Since I won a bottle of Celeteque Advanced from Animetric's anniversary contest, I figured I should share the rest of my Celeteque favorites with my readers. I talked about Celeteque Advanced in my contest entry, but that's not the only thing worth investing in this summer. I previously mentioned owning a travel kit, but I have since then tried two other kinds of toners: one is alcohol-free and the other one is for oil control.
If there's one adjective that could describe any of these Celeteque products, it would be "light". Extremely light. I'm literally melting with the heat right now -- we hit 38 degrees a couple of days ago -- and I cannot imagine slapping on any of the drugstore brands available in the market. They are just waaaaay too creamy. When you see that your ice cream turns into milkshake in less than a minute, you can very easily picture what could happen to the chemicals in moisturizers with thick consistencies.
My hectic schedule this summer is almost literally hellish: I travel by train from my work place (APC in Makati) to my school (UP Diliman) and then back to work by supervising the various exhibits scattered around the metro. The filth, grease and oil one can accumulate during the travel (and in this heat!!!) is unbearable. So I'm now down to the very basics: Celeteque facial wash, alcohol-free toner at night, oil-free toner during the day, Celeteque Advanced at night and the regular water-based moisturizer by day. I top that off with BRTC Blemish Recover Balm, which I use as a glorified tinted moisturizer (with SPF28) in lieu of foundation.
A lot of you who read my Health and Beauty posts would also be aware of how careful I am about what I put on my skin. As much as possible, I go for organic. If that isn't possible (either the product is unavailable or my wallet wouldn't permit it), I go for the next best thing. Celeteque products are water-based and the ingredients are very gentle on the skin. While I did notice that the alcohol-free toner has some ingredients that I'm not too confident about, the rest are pretty much OK. I just need the moisture without feeling like I'm about to get dumped into a frying pan. I am highly allergic to lots of weird substances (even ones that can be found in organic products), so I don't generally buy my bathing stuff from regular groceries and drug stores. This is probably the only drugstore brand that I am happy about.

I love Celeteque!!! It's the most effective cleanser, toner, moisturizer in our humid and oh so init na weather. And probably the only toner with witch hazel that doesn't smell like adobong baboy (imagine adobo in your face? eww) :D
ReplyDeleteWitch hazel smells like adobong baboy...wha? Seriously?
ReplyDeleteOi Dong, please update! I'm nominating you for the upcoming influential bloggers thingy. Plus...urm...you have spam on your blog.
ReplyDeleteOh no really? I'll update na haha grabe kasi na stress ako ang breakouts dumami, I'll deal with the Spam.
ReplyDeleteOh my god pag nagkita tayo dadalhin ko yung pure witch hazel na toner na nabili ko sa Healthy Options ambaho I swear, pero maganda sa skin and you know naman usually yung mababaho na products yung pinaka effective pero for the mean time I'll stick with Celeteque toner na may Witch Hazel din haha
Sige! Kelan ba tayo magkikita ulit? Yah, your spam are in Chinese. Hahahahahaha!
ReplyDeleteI stopped buying from Healthy Options na. Too expensive (and my gold card got downgraded to green again) and not everything is as organic as they say.
True! Not every stuff they have is organic some are just drugstore brands.
ReplyDeleteActually natawa din ako I saw the spam in my blog hahaha can't understand it though.
O nga we should meet kung kelan, ang layo kasi ng office niyo. What I like about Celeteque is that it's inexpensive and very effective compared to Cetaphil (tama ba) anyways Cetaphil's expensive and feels like your putting uhmmm you know? in the face diba? hahaha :D
Yay! Nag-update ka na? :D
ReplyDeleteSan ka ba based?
Yup nag update na ko and mag update pa ko ng marami ahaha! based ako in Katipunan Ave. pero OMG OMG! I'm so happy kasi if ever malapit na ko sa office niyo in a few weeks from now kasi I passed the entrance test in Ateneo Rockwell for my MBA! :D :D

ReplyDeletei tried celeteque, cetaphil tapos walang effect di maxado nalilinis ang face ko kasi kapag nagttoner ako andun pa rin ung dirt then I tried na rin mga natural soap sa isang known multiply seller wala pa din until i found my holy grail from human nature - ung calendula seaweed i bought it online from naturalove.multiply.com almost a year ko na siya gamit

ReplyDeleteAhhh. Human Nature is one of my favorite brands, too. I use their tomato cleanser and my face always feels squeaky clean after washing. Halos wala nang natitira for my toner (Celeteque) to get. Hindi ko kasi pinanglilinis ng mukha ang toner eh. Usually sa cleanser kelangan kuha na yung dumi. I use toner to prep my skin for moisturizer.
Try mo rin yung Sunflower oil ng Human Nature to remove your make-up bago ka mag-cleanse. Magaling siya.
