It wasn't till my Dad's birthday, last November 7, 2010, that I was reintroduced to Sugarhouse. My mom claimed she had an addiction to their Almond Sansrival (PhP975) and she just had to have some. Her craving took us to Alabang Town Center, where we bought this:
Lookee! I never thought I'd love sansrival this much. Most sansrival cakes are so full of butter that people usually manage to eat a couple of bites then no more. Some are too sweet. Others just don't have that much content, characterized by layers of butter, air, butter, air, butter, air.
This one is loaded. It has more meringue than butter and the almond toppings break the monotonous taste usually experienced in butter-heavy pastries. This combination gives the entire cake a chewy-crunchy-creamy texture. Umay factor dissolved!
And the packaging is nifty, too!
I think all these are a vast improvement from my first encounter with Sugarhouse. Good job!

ReplyDeleteIsea,
ReplyDeleteTry it and see if it'll suit your taste. :D My sister and I were dubious at first -- because of our previous experience with Sugarhouse -- but we ended up liking it.
