Looks like most of my friends had been playing with this idea, if my 2011 birthday cake were any indication:
No, I did not get married on March 5. But I did recall saying that I wanted a Merced wedding cake for my birthday. Wish was granted. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! MMMMWAAAAAH!
Well, we also had chicken wings, meticulously prepared by our helper Ate Jasmine.
Baked macaroni, a Dr. Corina Venturanza creation. Haha! Thanks, Tita Yna!
Adobong tahong by Cris Dumlao. Best eaten with lots of steamed rice.
Special lemon iced tea, also by Cris Dumlao. Daniel Enriquez, my last visitor, had two pitchers of this. Well. He remained awake till 6AM the next day.
Cutting the cake. My guests don't know what to make of this. They treated me like a debutante. Hahaha! (I didn't have this kind of cake on my 18th.) Elvert thinks that Rebie looked really hungry here, but Rebie said she was staring at the candy flowers. (Photo by Elvert.)
Yep! She really was after the flowers!
Now for the hard part:
Notice the amount of concentration on the faces of Cris, Elvert and my brother Pau? They were trying to figure out how to open the cake's beribboned wishes/fortune.
Cha's look of bewilderment: PRICELESS.
Tin had the hardest time with these ribbons. Must have something to do with her IQ. We noticed that the higher your IQ, the more difficulty you'd have with this.
But she rewarded herself with pink candy flowers. See the evidence in her choppers.
Lei and Rose arrived a little bit later.
Followed by Dan, who spent the rest of the night talking about projects, politics, ethics and whatnot.

ReplyDeleteSi Rebie? Seriously??? Now you're making me wonder how old she is. I never thought of asking hahahahaha!
Yes! :) She's my homeroom adviser when I was in Grade 7. Wow small world.
ReplyDeleteHahaha! Ang galing! :)
OMG talaga. Hahahahaha! Matagal na pala shang nagtuturo. I can't imagine her teaching elementary kids who are full-grown now kasi she looks young. I wonder if she started teaching after graduation or something.
ReplyDeleteWell I graduated in 2009 from college so I guess 10 years na siyang nagtuturo. :)
ReplyDeletePlease tell her I said hi. She's one of my best teachers. She used to hand out little notes of encouragement to her students during competitions. I still have mine posted on my cabinet. :)
Ok, nagco-compute na talaga ako. Hahahaha!
ReplyDeleteYup, I went straight to her FB wall and told her you posted a comment about her. I hope she sees it. Wow, it's nice to know that she had been a very inspiring teacher. I'm going to post your last comment on her wall, too. :) Galing! You should have seen our exhibit then. :)
thank you so much for connecting me to Ms. Ramoso! :D It's so great to see her again.
ReplyDeleteSayang, ang ganda nga ng exhibit niyo. I didn't know she was into painting rin. Thank you for sharing the link!
You're welcome! I'm so happy my blog helped you reconnect. I was so inspired by your story that I had to share it with her. Grabe, I wish my elementary school teachers were like her. My life would've been easier. Hahahaha!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cake! The cherry blossoms was the design of my friend's wedding invite. She got married last December. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, thanks. Just as I thought. The design really is for weddings. I love it!
